Mould's wall thickness

      As we all know,mould quality is very important.Of course, wall thickness is also a key point.

        Plastic parts require a reasonable thickness.It should not be too thin,as it needs to have sufficient strength for its application,fastening during its assembly,filling out its cavity during molding,and impact during ejection.It should not be too thick,for it increases the shrinkage,further  varies its dimensions,prolongs the cooling time,and wastes the material.It may also cause porosity,shrinkage cavity,dent and warpage.The thickness decision needs to carefully strike a balance between economics,and part quality and strength,though it also depends on the material type,part size,and molding conditions.thermoplastic materials are good for parts with a thin wall,which usually varies between1.5-4mm,though it could be as thin as 0.6-0.9mm,or even 0.25mm at times.The thickness should be homogeneous all around the part,to avoid residual forces and defects,caused by uneven shrinkage during the solidification and cooling process.

Injection mould maintenance largely affect the mould life, if we make good mould maintenance, we can extend the mould life, and bring us more economic benefit. Following let's talk something about the basic plastic mould maintenance; it mainly refers to daily mould maintenance.
The main job for daily maintenance is cleaning, lubricating, and inspection.
Before install the mould, clean the top and bottom plate, and make sure the two plates parallel with the injection machine plate. Then open the mould on machine, clean the cavity and core, parting surface, especially for guide mechanism. Lubricities all the moving parts, such as guide pin, brush, slider, ejectors... And check the mould action before production, check the mould opening, slider or ejector moving.
During production, injection molding, Painting lubricating oil for mould and tighten the screws at fixed period. If the mould has any problem, stop the mould running, and waiting for professional technician.
After production, clean and spray antirust on the cavity and core, cleaning water channel by air. Painting the butter on the surface of the mould, and pack it with film. Keep records for injection mould installing, unloading and maintenance. And if the mould have problem, keep the problem sample for mould repairing.

PVC molding now is more and more popular that used in the building industry today because of its corrosion-resistant characteristics, such as PVC pipe fittings. How to mold a PVC? What are the DOs and DON'Ts on PVC molding?
Don't burn it. When you burn it, the fumes of PVC are acidic, which means we should not use hot runner in PVC molding. Usually we use edge gate as you know PVC material's melting flow is not very good.

As it can releases acid gases which has strong corrosive during PVC molding, not only PVC molds but also PVC injection machines should require special processing, otherwise both of them can be damaged. For PVC molds, we should use stainless steel such as DIN1.2316. There are specific screw designs for PVC molding, also there are some fans on the machine barrel which lower the material tempurature as PVC is shear sensitive. Also Sino also has found an effective way to prevent the acid gases which might be breathing by we workers during PVC molding. Greatly increases the production security.
